Creating an Exterro FTK Central connection

Obtaining the credentials

1. Identify the Base API Server Address - Locate the domain name or IP address of your FTK Central server instance.
2. Verify the ADAPI License Key - Ensure your hardware CodeMeter license dongle contains the required API feature flag.
   • Open the Exterro License Manager on your main FTK/Enterprise server.
   • Under the Enterprise section, verify that the ADAPI license tag is present and active.
   • Verification: The ADAPI value should display a valid license date (not expired) in the License Options list.
3. Generate Key via FTK Enterprise Interface (Option A)
   • Launch the FTK Enterprise application.
   • Navigate to the top menu, click Tools, and select Access API Key.
   • Click Generate Key.
   • Verification: An API Key string (GUID format) will display in the text box below the user list.
4. Generate Key via Web Browser (Option B) - If accessing remotely via a browser:
   • Log into the FTK Central web portal with an Administrator account.
   • In your browser’s address bar, replace ftkclogin.html in the URL with: api/security/<user_id>/getenterpriseapiguid (e.g., api/security/1000/getenterpriseapiguid).
   • Verification: The browser will render an XML/JSON string containing your unique API GUID.

Creating your connection

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the Connections page > Add connection. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.
2. Select the Exterro FTK Central icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.
3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.
4. Select API Key as the method to create the connection.
5. Fill in the parameters:
   • The API Address
   • The API Key
6. (Optional) Click Test Connection to test it.
7. Click Create connection. The new connection appears on the Connections page.
