# Snipe-IT

> Snipe-IT was made for IT asset management, to enable IT departments to track who has which laptop, when it was purchased, which software licenses and accessories are available, among other features. It is fully open source with a dedicated support team and frequent updates.

## Creating a Snipe-IT connection[​](#creating-a-snipe-it-connection "Direct link to Creating a Snipe-IT connection")

To create the connection you need:

* An API address
* An API token

Follow the [Snipe-IT documentation](https://snipe-it.readme.io/reference/generating-api-tokens) on how to generate an API token from the UI.

### Creating your connection[​](#creating-your-connection "Direct link to Creating your connection")

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the **Connections** page > **Add connection**. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.

2. Select the **Snipe-IT** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appears.

3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.

4. Select **API Token** as the method to make the connection.

5. Fill in the parameters:

   * The device API address including protocol (http\:// or https\://) without the API suffix.
   * The API token generated from the UI.

6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.

7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.
