# Scan File

Triggers a scan of the file identified by the provided File ID.

## Parameters

  | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
  | File ID     | A file ID returned from a file creation request. Can be obtained via the 'Initiate File Upload' action.                                                                                                                                                                              |
  | Policy UUID | A policy UUID to scan the request payload. Policies can be built in the Nightfall Dashboard.<br />For more information on creating policies refer to the [Nightfall AI Documentation](https://help.nightfall.ai/nightfall-ai/operationalizing-dlp/the-nightfall-dashboard/policies). |
  | Rule UUID   | A comma-separated list of detection rules UUIDs which are used to scan the request payload.                                                                                                                                                                                          |
  | Search By   | Search either by rules or policy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
