# Create Channel

Create a new channel in a team.

**Required Permissions**:

* Public Channel: `create_public_channel`.
* Private Channel: `create_private_channel`.

## Basic Parameters

  | Parameter    | Description                                                           |
  | ------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
  | Display Name | The display name of the channel.                                      |
  | Name         | The unique name of the channel to create.                             |
  | Team ID      | The ID of the team. Can be obtained from the `List All Teams` action. |
  | Type         | Select the channel visibility type.                                   |

## Advanced Parameters

  | --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
  | Header                | The markdown-formatted header text displayed above the post input in the channel.                                                                                        |
  | Managed Category Name | The name of the managed category to assign this channel to. Requires an Enterprise license and the `EnableManagedChannelCategories` configuration setting to be enabled. |
  | Purpose               | A short description of the channel's purpose.                                                                                                                            |
