# Cribl

> Cribl helps organizations collect, process, and analyze machine-generated data at scale, enabling them to gain insights, optimize workflows, and improve overall operational efficiency.

## Creating a Cribl connection

Create the connection by using one of the following methods:

* [Cribl Cloud](#using-cribl-cloud)
* [Cribl On-Prem](#using-cribl-on-prem)

### Using Cribl Cloud

To create the connection you need:

* An API Address
* A Client ID
* A Client Secret

### Obtaining the credentials

1. From your organization menu, select the **API Management** tab.
2. Click on **Add Credential**.

#### Creating your connection

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the **Connections** page > **Add connection**. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.

2. Select the **Cribl** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.

3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.

4. Select **Cribl Cloud** as the method to create the connection.

5. Fill in the parameters:

   * The API Address
   * The Client ID
   * The Client Secret

6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.

7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.

### Using Cribl On-Prem

To create the connection you need:

* An API Address
* A Username
* A Password

#### Creating your connection

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the **Connections** page > **Add connection**. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.

2. Select the **Cribl** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.

3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.

4. Select **Cribl On-Prem** as the method to create the connection.

5. Fill in the parameters:

   * The API Address
   * The Username
   * The Password

6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.

7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.
