# BlueCat Address Manager

> BlueCat Address Manager (IPAM) is a centralized platform that provides visibility, automation, and control over IP address space, DNS, and DHCP services to simplify network management and improve security.

## Creating a BlueCat Address Manager connection

Create the connection by using one of the following methods:

* [Username & Password V2](#using-username-and-password-v2)
* [Username & Password V1](#using-username-and-password-v1)

### Using Username and Password V2

To create the connection you need:

* An API Address
* A Username
* A Password

#### Creating your connection

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the **Connections** page > **Add connection**. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.
2. Select the **BlueCat Address Manager** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.
3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.
4. Select **Username & Password V2** as the method to create the connection.
5. Fill in the parameters:
   * The API Address
   * The Username
   * The Password
6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.
7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.

### Using Username and Password V1

To create the connection you need:

* An API Address
* A Username
* A Password
* A Timeout Value
* A Timeout Time Units

**Note:** The timeout units and value should match the configured timeout that was set to the session in Bluecat IPAM platform. Defaults to 20 minutes.

#### Creating your connection

2. Select the **BlueCat Address Manager** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.
3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.
4. Select **Username & Password V1** as the method to create the connection.
5. Fill in the parameters:
   * The API Address
   * The Username
   * The Password
   * The Timeout Value
   * The Timeout Time Units
6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.
7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.
